Nerts (20 years and counting)
This year will mark the 20th Anniversary
of the creation of the Nert.
For those of you who don't know what a Nert is. It was created 20
years ago by friend John Callery, my brother, and me when we were
kids in Dayton. John and my brother drew it for a while and lost
interest in the doodles. I liked the doodles and I decided to make
them all my own. The Nert is a frog-type alien creature. It comes
from the planet called Imeria. There are two moons. They have their
own culture and language. I used to spend hours and hours trying
to get the character to look right.
The character has evolved over the years.
It first had an antenna with no feet. Later I drew feet and better
arms. I created a 3-D Animation character in college. It looked
crude, but at least it moved.
I will create an image that will depict the
creation of my character. I hope I draw these guys for another 20
years. In the meantime here is an evolution
chart of the Nert.
